Last updated: 17 September 2026
Beats Engineering (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Beats Engineering online examination and practice platform, available at beatsnepal.com (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to students, instructors, and administrators who use the Service.
By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide to us
- Account details — your name, username, email address, role (student, instructor, or administrator), and password. Passwords are never stored in plain text; we store only a one-way cryptographic hash.
- Profile information — optional details you add to your profile such as gender, mobile number, date of birth, address, and timezone.
- Google account data — if you choose “Sign in with Google”, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
- Content you submit — exam responses, practice answers, feedback, and any messages you send to our support team.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and performance data — exams and practice sets started and completed, questions attempted, answers selected, scores, marks, time spent per question and per section, and navigation within an exam session.
- Technical and log data — IP address, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, referring pages, and timestamps of your requests.
- Cookies and similar technologies — strictly necessary cookies used to keep you signed in and to protect the Service. See section 5 for details.
Information from third parties
- Google — identity information when you authenticate with Google.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — a bot-detection service used on sign-in and sign-up. It processes signals from your browser to determine whether you are a human.
- Email delivery providers — process your email address in order to deliver verification codes and notifications to you.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- create and manage your account and verify your email address;
- authenticate you, prevent fraud, and protect the security of the Service;
- deliver, grade, and record exams and practice sessions, including calculating section and final scores;
- display your results, analytics, and progress to you and, where relevant, to your instructors and administrators;
- send you service and account emails such as verification codes, password resets, exam reminders, and results notifications;
- respond to your support requests and feedback and improve the Service;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Legal bases for processing
Where required by applicable law, we rely on the following legal bases: your consent (for example, optional profile details and marketing emails where offered); the performance of a contract (providing the Service you have signed up for); our legitimate interests (keeping the Service secure, preventing abuse, and improving our teaching tools); and legal obligations to which we are subject.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf, including our cloud hosting provider, database provider, email delivery services, Cloudflare (Turnstile), and Google (sign-in).
- Your instructors and administrators, who can view exam attempts, scores, and relevant account details for the courses and exams they manage.
- Authorities or other parties where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Beats Engineering, our users, or the public.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the Service. These include session cookies that keep you signed in, remember security preferences, and help protect against cross-site request forgery. Because these cookies are essential, they cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
6. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, and reporting requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Exam attempts and results may be retained for academic-record purposes. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
7. Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and rate limiting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your password confidential and contact us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.
8. International data transfers
We and our service providers may store and process your information in countries other than Nepal. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with this policy and applicable law.
9. Your rights and choices
- Access and portability — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — update inaccurate profile details from your account settings.
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and personal information, subject to our legal and academic-record obligations.
- Objection and restriction — object to or ask us to restrict certain processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 12. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
10. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for students preparing for higher-education entrance examinations. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate.
12. Contact us
